Trackback [] Helium LTA :: 9/25/05--Finally--All Senko Bass--All Helium too. Author: Lightninrod Subject: 9/25/05--Finally--All Senko Bass--All Helium too Posted: Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:26 pm (GMT 0) Topic Replies: 2 I decided to forego going back to the Dodge County PFA looking for a double-digit Bass where I've skunked out so much lately. Instead, I headed down to the swamp pond where I havn't fished in 3 or 4 weeks. Big, fluffy, White clouds everywhere with an on-and-off brisk wind with the water level down about 2' from normal and a bright sun too. I started in the shallow area neat the gettin'-in spot and on the third cast, caught a 4lb, 9 oz--22 incher on a weightless, color #222 Senko. Brought a smile to my face as I hadn't felt a bite in a while and even longer on a Senko. Then came a 2 lb, 9 oz-19 incher--same bait. I tried a spinnerbait because of the wind but got no bites on anything but the Senko exceot for one 'heavy'(?) bite on a Matt's Baby Bass. She hit it near a laydown and I thought it was just a limb-bump but I was wrong. Had her on for about 5 seconds but she gave it back to me because of a poor reelset on my part. I went back to the Senko and caught a 3 lb, 15 oz--22 incher next followed by a 2lb, 15 oz--19 incher. That two lber was only hooked by the Sugoi hook having gone thru her nostrils I caught 5 or 6 smaller Bass including a 4 incher, all on the Senko. Then came my last catch and it was a little different. I dipped the entire Senko and hook in CB's HS and on the third cast, I felt a pick-up---set the hook and she had some weight but she immediately got tangled in an underwater laydown. I motored over to her and I could feel her surging. I kept pulling on the 15# test Seaguar CP fluro but could not get her free. I went back and forth, trying to free up the line but to no avail, giving her slack also to see if she could work it loose. After about 5 minutes of this, I decided I have to cut the line. By now, I wasn't sure if she was still on the 4/0 Sugoi hook and all I was doing was putting too much pressure on my rod and line so I gave up. I got close once again and reached down to pull any slack line up, ready to make the cut. There she was, now worked free and still hooked. She weighed 5 lbs, 4 ozs and was 23" long. I had caught her at least once before as she had the tell-tale hole in her lower jaw's membrane. That line and that hook are so superior to others. I've proved it over and over to myself. And no, I don't get anything from Seaguar, GY(Sugoi), or CB's Hawg Sauce---all good stuff. 4/9--22" Same 2/9--19" 3/15--22" Same Again 2/15--19" Same 5/4--23" Belly Again Dan _________________ "I give my loyal and enthusiastic adherence to the present; with all its fresh and glorious possibilities; but I shall never forget that it is to the Old South that the New South owes all that is best and noblest in its being."
