Author: Lightninrod Subject: 7/17/05--100 degrees-one small Bass Posted: Sun Jul 17, 2005 9:18 pm (GMT 0) Topic Replies: 0 So HOT--100 degrees!--bight, sunny, partly cloudy day with very little cooling wind and murky,'chocolate milk' water made for a sparse, sweaty 4 hours of fishing. I had two on Matt's Baby Bass but lost them to a poor hookset. I landed another one, just a 16 incher and a dink on a FnF bait. One very interesting thing happened. I'm standing in my boat, pitching the BB to and around stumps in about 8' of water when I see a Bass(2 lbs?) suspended just under the water's surface and about 10' from me. I pitched the BB past it 5 or 6' and started reeling it back. I brought it right past its nose and then turned it down its side. That Bass wheeled around and inhaled that bait, much to my surprise. In fact, I was so surprised, I didn't set the hook. I truly believe if you put that bait where they can see it, you will get bit and hopefully, do a better job at setting the hook than I did today. Matt's Baby Bass Same Just FYI: Baby Bass nose-down on the bottom Dan _________________ "I give my loyal and enthusiastic adherence to the present; with all its fresh and glorious possibilities; but I shall never forget that it is to the Old South that the New South owes all that is best and noblest in its being."
